We are relatively rested with one game in three weeks, whereas they have played many and are hungry for success.
See nothing other than a 3-0 hammering.

3-0??

That is generous!

I'd say 5-0 minimum!

I predict a clubbing somewhere between the Liverpool and Chelsea experience, because they are in a different class from the rest of the Premiership, never mind the likes of us. In fact, the gulf in class is so great the contest almost doesn't qualify as sport at all. They've got loads more money, every single player is better than his Palace opponent, their manager is better, their coaching staff is better.
And yet, and yet. That win at the Etihad and that Townsend goal. But while we persist with the likes of Ayew, we won't see another of those. Miracles do happen, but they don't happen often.

There's a lot of criticism of Ayew on plenty of these threads. I just want to say this, he clearly shouldn't be on the right. He played well as a centre forward last year, why not keep him there and drop Benteke? Send back Bats and start to introduce Mateta.
I doubt Ayew is asking to play on the right. I've never seen him cross.

Ayew is turning into George Ndah, head down running with the ball, no idea where he is going, inevitably tackled and falls flat on his face.

He will never replace Beneteke, who won nearly every header he went for last night and can lay the ball off to our players, which Ayew can’t being flat on the ground.

Agree about Mateta. He must wonder why on earth he bothered to come to Palace. Not the first player one can say that about under the current regime. I'm interested to know how many players have actually improved under RH. I can think of a few who have declined. I'd also like to know when was the last time a tactical change by our manage made a difference to a result. But we mustn't stray from the point of the post which was what might happen against Citeh.
It seems to me that nothing 'magical' happens with this group of players. We are predictable. Last night's result was predictable. We didn't play badly, but the result was predictable and indeed widely predicted. in view of that, it's difficult to see much of a difference of Saturday.

You could also say that Ayew can run with the ball, beat people and win fouls. Benteke clearly can't. Obviously, they are different players. However, it doesn't change the point that last season when played up front Ayew was miles better than Benteke. Plus, he played his heart out. Good luck trying to find Benteke's pulse, let alone heart.

Just because Man City are so rich and pampered, it's one game we might give 100% effort in. Basically like wanting to show them up. I'm convinced if a team gives its all they have a chance against anyone. The lack of effort is probably my biggest gripe about our current performances.

We scored less goals last season with Ayew up front.

If we put out the same defence and midfield then it will take a minor miracle to find any sort of result. Personally I would replace Ayew with Andros and Jairo with Schlupp just to add some pace and directness, and then pray that Cahill is fit to come back in for Dann. Our only hope is a smash and grab, so pace on the break will be essential.

Whatever team we go with though we are likely to lose and there's no shame in that, I just hope we at least show some bravery on the ball and try and work some situations as we showed against Everton and a bit last night that in Eze and Zaha we have two players who can unlock any defence.

Isn't 4-0 our default result against them?

Few good players coming back from injury for the final few games which are all more winnable than this free shot.

That doesn't mean much. It also doesn't address at all what I said.
