Before my time at Palace but on 22.4.59 Vic Rouse became the first fourth Division player to get a cap when he was picked for Wales.
We don’t get many firsts, not good ones anyway, so hats off to Mr. Rouse.
He’s still around by the way.

My hero was Bill Glazier, who was very young for a top keeper.

Your kind of age, then

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

My hero(es) - a big chunk of the Team of the 80s (Sansom, Hilaire, Cannon, and that Irish midfield master Jerry Murphy).

I reach the ripe age of 70 next year so Vic Rouse is somewhat more advanced in years than me.
God bless him.

Sold to Jimmy Hill's Coventry for some £30,000, a world record at the time.

Vic Rouse was the first goalie I can remember. Left back was Bert Howe, right back was Roy Summersby and I could go on because I'm older than Willo.

I did see him play at the end of his career with us, alongside the likes of Kember, Stevenson,Bannister,Woodruff,Payne etc.
I heard him referred to as "Blessed Bert Howe" !
