Single deck Holmesdale, most fans standing, back passes being picked up by Budgie, shorts that really were, that changing room - rather like a school changing room, no sponsorship to be seen anywhere. How times change. I wonder if the next 40 years will bring any changes worth note.

It’s a shame that the following week was where it all started to go tits up, stuffed 3-0 at Liverpool, then the same score at the weed on Boxing Day. But happy days, that season was my first season ticket and I didn’t miss a game
