Could it be something about a deposit for a takeover bid? Just pure speculation. Was watching Sky Sports and saw how another team (Burnley?) were in talks that failed, but the potential owner had paid a deposit for negotiations. I never knew that existed and was interested in how that works.

This used to mean someone with 10% share, I believe, which £5m certainly isn’t. Surely just a loan would not warrant this, is he a frontman for a yet unknown consortium? Could explain lack of movement on Roy’s contract but this may be well off the mark
