I've just read on CPFC about how the players' chef provides them with a plant based breakfast. What!

Wasn't it Jim Cannon and Co who used to have a proper fry-up for breakfast then go down the chippy for lunch after training?

More fun then eh lads? But I guess we weren't in the Premiership.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Sorry Teddy Eagle, I've just seen that you picked up on this issue in the thread about fitness.

All comes down to the same thing - a good fish n chip supper never did anyone any harm.

I thought lunches were more liquid.

What posh people have at dinner time.

Probably a false memory but weren’t we a lot fitter when Iain Dowie (the unacceptable face of football) brought in his brother Bob to train them?

As long as the Thomas Brolin diet doesn't make a comeback.

But he also had those yoga mats in the centre circle. I don't know why and it was frankly humourous.

I just read the breakdown of what they are eating and it is terrible this would explain a lot.

These people that are allowing this know nothing about proper nutrition.

here is some quotes from the article

“Because we cook in no fat, no butter, no cream, we don’t bring extra fat to anything. If you use chia seeds, for example, that brings the calories and protein up"

“All breakfasts are plant-based apart from eggs, which they need to have. We do overnight porridge with our own compote of fruit which is not sugary, it’s very healthy. We do a lot of chia seeds, new grains, aniseed, things that are rich in protein and omega"

“Some of the players are really loving it and it’s great to see that – there is the demand for it. It’s just a question of explaining what it does to their body; it’s very good for recovery, for example”

This person knows nothing about human nutrition everything that has been stated is wrong.

Plant protein and fats are not healthy or bio available to humans this is a fat you would need to consume more then 3 times the amount which also would give negative effects.

calories counting useless this method was created by mainstream its made up like RDA (recommended daily allowances) protein you do based on your weight.

classing fruit as not sugary o my that is what fruit is fructose which is worse then just standard sugar this person again shows they dont have a clue what they are talking about.

porridge is a mix of fats with carbs again poor for your health plus grans shouldn't be in human diet they are awful for us.

WHat it does to your body is damage it short term this may feel good but long term this is going to put these players in bad shape plus you are not getting the correct building blocks for recovery/repair which would explain low energy plus injuries (the other reason could be switching to different diets can take time to adapt some do it in few weeks others it takes months)

Only good thing is the eggs and in the article was some mention of fish so not sure why some mention about veganism this is nothign to do with that

To state it simply they are eating just high carb and high protein diet but the protein is coming from poor sources if you exclude the eggs.

Hash browns, mushrooms yes but with a bit of protein like bacon or sausage. No wonder they are weak and easily broken.

Spot on

Whoever designed this diet must be a friend or relative of someone to get the job.

I am not a nutritionist but I know fruit is very sugary, the great myth is that drinking orange juice for example on a regular basis is healthy because of Vitamin c. Don't give your children juice boxes please

I wonder if we can find out what other clubs do from a dietary point of view.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.
