Think he would make a good manager for us. Not necessarily related to black lives matter but as with a lot of managerial appointments their is often very narrow selection process

Southgate is a point in case, sacked by boro despite being 4th in championship- a position they have not got near since. Now the FA are scared of losing him so decided to end his reduced wages

I think after Roy we need a young manager. He fits the bill. An England international and assistant to Southgate.

He links to Charlton maybe a problem. He was a decent enough manager with them but didn't set the world alight is he good enough for the Premier League?

I believe ADO Den Haag were second from bottom when they were appointed and the team won 1 game in 8 games under Pardew before the Eredivisie was declared null and void.

I like Chris Powell, but he’s not a PL manager. Before his job in the Netherlands he managed Southend in League One for just over a year. He started well but some inconsistent results – a longish sequence of win one, lose one that deteriorated into eleven games without a win - saw him being moved on.

When he took over at Southend after 28 games they were 20th out of 24 and they finished the season in 10th place.
The following season, Southend were 20th when Powell departed after 39 games.I believe he signed around 12 players, some on 'Loan'.
Powell's assistants at Southend were Damian Matthew and Kevin Keen.

Some of their more fervent fans, gatecrashed a Pardew training session as they believed they could do better/no worse

I wasn't aware of this.
ADO Den Haag were in a bit of a pickle when Pardew took over and their Chief Exec spoke highly of him :

not saying i definitely want Powell as next manager but surely it would be sensible to bring a younger up and coming (or out of work) manager onto coaching staff to work alongside Roy.

Lewington is pretty old too and also wasn't great as joint manager all those years ago. He will not want the job.

Richard Shaw has gone so there are no obvious internal candidates.

Getting someone in now and giving them a year in the background is surely a sensible approach. Don't necessarily need to give them the job after Roy leaves but it gives the club options

I liked the fella as a player, always seemed to conduct himself in the right manner, and was quite eloquent for a footballer. You're right in that we need to look at a younger manager with new ideas. We had the right sort of approach to hiring with FDB but picked the wrong guy, I hope the powers that be are prepared to give it another go to evolve the first team and club.

The "Powers" have shown they are prepared to give Hodgson another go next season so any speculation about a replacement before the start of next season is superfluous.
