.....has become a talking-point among pundits. Oldest squad in the prem.

Personal opinion , you have seen some Italian older squads do amazing stuff in the champions league. Andreas Perlo for example.

But there is an argument for a need of pace & stamina.

Overall our squad have done brilliantly this season , but in the premier league you are going backwards if you are not trying to make progress.

Into which positions would you like to see youth recruited ?

Kayla did Anfield & Old Trafford

First and foremost it would show positive intent if we were to sign AND play an attacking midfielder!

secondly, a right winger/fullback who is pacey and can deliver killer crosses. Unfortunately we can't afford Alexander-Arnold.

No point saying we need a centre-forward because we simply don't have the money to buy one that could do the business. Real shame we didn't have a go at getting Ings when he was available.

I think it has been well documented that our squad is getting to a point where we need to bring in some younger players. Having secure safety we need to bring in 2 or 3 younger players in readiness for the new season. With this perhaps a couple of new signings too, to try and establish some depth to the overall team.

I’m hoping that potential targets are being looked at as this is the perfect opportunity without the relegation threat hanging over our heads to do so. I really do not want another season of seeing if we can out perform the 3 promoted sides from the Championship.

An ageing squad containing players who are past their best and with little, if any, re-sale value. The transfer coffers hardly filled to the brim.
I would humbly suggest that this is not a healthy state of affairs.

We are about to encounter exceedingly challenging times and next season we could well be in turbulent waters. The vast experience of Hodgson could be pivotal in our quest to remain in the PL.

Previous signings of older journeyman from great teams have often failed. Kevin doyle , adebayor , edgar davids....even the price of Benteke does not stand up in the cold light of day.

I favour proven stars from The Championship or Europe with youth on their side. There must be talented fellas who would give their left nut for a chance in the prem ?

Aged under 24. With the chance to sell them for big money by age 27 ?

Swansea bought Michu for buttons.

We can add to our ageing squad by signing the under-mentioned curtesy of the Beeb's Gossip column.

West Brom are interested in signing 33-year-old former Chelsea and Nigeria midfielder John Mikel Obi, who is without a club after leaving Turkish side Trabzonspor in March. (Sky Sports)

Michu was 26 when Laudrup signed him for £2 Mill from Rayo Vallecano.

We should be introducing the odd youngster as from today .If they are not good enough then obviously we have to buy in youth.

It's like a classic car. When they run they run well but more often than not they look good until you need then then they are as low and look hopelessly out of date against newer models.

The age and number of contracts finishing next year is a real worry.Passion and enthusiasm of fans cannot push back the tide of what is coming upon us.Next window is likely to define our chances of surviving in PL next season.

On the managerial side, Dyche is much touted but I would be happy with Potter if we could get him.

Whatever, we need a lot of cash we don't seem to have

Would younger players sign under roy as they could be stuck on the bench until the 85th minute. Only wages will tempt them, not prospects of trophies or adulation which is a bit sad.

Not sure I would be tempted to sign at the present time, although at the age of 63 it may be my last chance!
