Obviously not the result or performance we wanted yesterday but some extenuating circumstances given the opposition and injuries. But what really annoys me is the lack of youth involvement. That game was over as a contest by half time (55 minutes tops). So why rag Ayew through 85 mins and only give Pierrick roughly ten minutes?! And why throw on Luka instead of a prospect given he’s on 9 yellow cards?! Absolute lunacy to not use it as an opportunity to play the youngsters.

Because if we had of put all these youth players on then it would have ended up being 10 nil. There is a time and a place for playing youngsters and it is certainly not while playing the best club team in the world.

Liverpool was definitely not the place to blood youngsters. Mind you, I'm still not convinced that we will see much of the younger players in the remaining games given that we have some tough opposition - perhaps not of the quality of Liverpool but still teams that would provide a tough baptism for any inexperienced youngsters.

The problem is that for Roy a youngster is someone in their 30s!

Given Burnley have about 5 players left due to their chairman not extending players' contracts until the end of the season maybe that will be a good game for experimentation. With Wilf likely to be out I'd start Pierrick as he looks like he can handle it. Put Kirby on the bench and give Riedewald a start. Nothing too crazy, but mix things up a bit. We don't really have anything to play for now beyond pride and a couple of placings up or down.

Yep yesterday was not really the best time to play the youth players. We do have some exciting young players that I feel could do well for us, we’ve just released two who I thought would do well for us- Kian Flanagan and Jason Lokilo

The final scoreline wouldn't have been pretty if we'd put youth players on. That could've dented their confidence, best to bring them on against mid table or lower sides at first and build from there. I agree with the gist of what you're saying, it's more making sure it's a progression rather than a massive gulf between inexperience and being brought on against the best team in the league.

A certain AWB was thrown in among the big guns. Did not seem to do him (or the team) much harm. Roy's refusal to blood the young ones is one of his very few weaknesses.
