I will admit to expressing despair at the sale of AWB and failure to replace in 2 windows with fears of attack after attack at a weakened corner of defence. How wrong I was.

8 years the only surviving ever present since promotion over 200 games quietly reliable and hes still doing it.

Good business for £400k.

I do agree, but going forward hes not in the same league as awb, hence we are not scoring as many goals.

AWB was good with tackling only, Ward has always been solid forward and back and any criticism that went his way was outrageously stupid.

We always had strong backup for this position.

Wardy has been a terrific player for us but in the last couple of years has lost his pace which is why AWB was favoured. He is still a solid performer though

For a converted winger AWB’s end product was mostly rubbish. No doubt someone will dig some stats out to prove me wrong. But defensively one on one he was terrific

Agreed. He's no Alexander-Arnold in terms of going forward. I remember being quite disappointed with his delivery and dribbling ability.

Agreed, It was a great bit of business selling AWB for that money. Smashing player but there are plenty of flaws in his game. Ward lacks pace but he has been excellent for us all season and we have not missed AWB at all.

We got a great price for AWB and Ward has reminded us that he is a solid and reliable RB. We still need cover though. As for AWB at Manure, he seems to be doing a good job there and his attacking play seems to be improving. He'll probably never be an Alexander-Arnold but A-A is not a patch on AWB defensively.

I would consider McArthur more of an unsung hero. The bloke has played about 200 games for us in the Premier, hardly ever injured, got a great engine and runs his heart out for the team. He doesn't have many shocking performances if any, normally his performances are a 7 or more, his consistency over the seasons is remarkable.

So few, in fact, that when he does, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Huge asset to us.
