I read that one of our promising young players is off to a Spanish club for 300k. It could be another Bostock, but surely we should be trying to keep hold of the talent that we're nurturing!?

Yet another promising England youth international wants to leave our club. We are either doing something seriously wrong in the way we manage our youngsters or quite simply he isn’t that great and the powers that be don’t see the same talent in the kid that the England set up do. I guess we will never know if he leaves.

Maybe because there is more chance of Nelson getting his eye back than him getting even a sniff of action in the premier league. You have to be of a certain age to get a chance atm.

Must admit I’ve never heard of the guy but sounds like he’s quite useful if he’s attracting interest from Europe.

Perhaps give him the odd 10 minutes towards the end of the game to see how he gets on, the season is pretty much over for us anyway. Also get him in the starting 11 for next seasons league cup. If we want to keep him, we’ve got to show him some love.

Most likey the press are just looking for news.

But, our young players could be leaving as they are seeing many players simply not getting a look in.

Mayer, Riedewald, and Sorloth all have been given hardly any game time.

Pierrick's had 10 minutes where he looked useful and no more minutes since then. Sane with Luke Dreher. Kirby hasn't got anywhere near the pitch.

Much as I think roy does a good job with what we have on the pitch I would like him to take a chance or two. This season is perfect. If it starts again and we get 3 more points then it seems logical to try out some kids. Ok money is at stake but I give you bissaka.

Completely agree. If a player isn't likely to make it a few premier league appearances could boost their value by more money we'd make by finishing a couple of league places further up the table.

Look at Reece Oxford. 8 Premier League appearances, West Ham probably made money by loaning him out, and he's valued at £2m.

It seems like if you put a young player on the pitch a couple of times in the premiership then their value increases from £0 to £1m.

That said, none of the clubs in the Championship or below are likely to have any funds to by players next season.

We probably need better facilities and better coaching. I believe Parish has recognised that, seen plans for Beckenham a few times now. On the coaching side, ex England pros may attract better youngsters - as you need to impress the parents.
Think about, for instance, the difference between Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and then us - your kid is shown around the facilities, who would you choose (as a neutral obviously)? We are on championship level facilities at best. Truthfully, there are plenty of Championship sides and even league one clubs, with better facilities than us.

The fact is Roy does not trust anyone young, Wan Bissaka only got to play for the 1st team as there was literally no one else available; even though Wilf has said 18 months before hand that hew was his most difficult opponent. Why hang about when you can play 1st team football elsewhere?

If you're younger than 27 you're not going to get a chance under Roy it seems. Raymond might be aware of that and that's why he wants to go somewhere else. Levi Lumeka is one of the examples of a youngster who left cos he didn't see a pathway at Palace and although he only moved to the Portuguese second tier, his performances have brought the interest of top tier sides there and he could progress nicely now he's getting senior football. Some people have said that Palace aren't producing as many talented youngsters as they used to but that might just be because players don't see a route to the first team anymore so leave once another club comes knocking.
