Grew up lucky enough to watch Cannon and Gilbert who I always considered to be our best ever centre halves. Think I have to reconsider after this season. Pretty much the complete player. Does the lot. Very composed, great in the air, brilliant positioning and excellent at marshalling defenders around him. In my humble opinion I think he probably is. What does everyone else think?

Love him but you'll never beat Thorn and Young...
George Courtney, the World Cup referee, everyone is looking at him. When will he blow....? |

Cahill is very good - a great piece of business in the summer transfer window (as was Ayew).

Don’t think any of the players mentioned above (I saw them all) are as good as Cahill who is still good enough to play for England. Cahill has played at the highest level and I would say he is the best I’ve seen in that position. How long he can last at 34 is another question? I would say if Sakho was fit they would be the best centre backs this club has had. I question if Sakho will ever play a full season alongside Cahill but Tompkins and then Dann and Kelly are top centre backs and slot in alongside Cahill well.

We are undoubtedly blessed in this position.

A top draw CB at the end of his career and one the club did well to get the services of . Different eras bring different challenges and best ever contenders but yes hes up there with the best we have had .

To think that Arsenal needed a proper ball winning Center back , looked at Chelsea and took David Luiz. Ha ha. What a joke. Cahill is mustard, in a two horse race for POTY with the keeper for me.
