As a non smoker myself, I seem strangely drawn to purchasing some cigars and lighting up. I've been toying with the idea for a while but where to start? As with most things there seems to be a lot of choice and I have no idea as to how one particular cigar can be treble what another one is? Surely it cant be down to the standard of 'ladies inner thigh' that the said cigar has been rolled on? Also...humidors? Whats the point in them? Is this a sure sign that I'm entering middle age? Does anyone else smoke cigars on here? Feel free to reply whilst I slip on my smoking jackets and slippers....

So strange, me too, non smoker, but have been drawn to ideal of an occasional Cigar. If you have Netflix, watch the show Comedians in cars getting coffee, Jerry Seinfeld. One episode has Steve Harvey in it, both sitting back toking on cigars, relaxing in a Chicago cigar club house. Seems a nice thing to do at Christmas or such. these two were banging on about Daniel Marshall red label ones. I may get some and a humidor and perhaps some for my brother for Christmas later this year, as it'll take that long to save up for em' lol

Thnak god for that! I was beginning to panic that I may be the ONLY one! I've been looking at simplycigars.co.uk and they haeva guide on what's what...even then its still a little confusing. I have a feeling i'll get a humidor off of eBay and then purchase a selection of differing types for the time being to see what I can settle on, no more than 2 or 3 of each. That way I can at least share them round, when we escape relegation again

haha, I think, like certain types of alcoholic drinks, it is something you want to try as you get older yeah. I wouldn't had touched dark rums as a young man, but today its my drink of choice, I have learned to appreciate the complex flavours etc. anyway, back to cigars, from what I have seen online, humidors can be quite expensive so just choose a highly rated one off of amazon, I know I will. as for cigars, check these: [Link] box of ten for $90, but I have not check int postage etc. You can buy them in the city and in harrods. Don't get me wrong, im no snob and I certainly aint loaded. But I just think if im going to get into this, I want to try the highest end possible just about within budget for occasional use. I want to understand it, and try to enjoy it. I'll check your link now!

I’m reminiscing about the Manikin cigars TV ads from the 1970s. One featured the exquisite Caroline Munro, if I remember right. Made a schoolboy very happy, but wouldn’t pass the PC test today.

Cigars are more for taste and not for inhalation to get ones satisfaction, whereas your common oily, inhalation is necessary for enjoyment. Personally, I used to find smoking exotic Jamaican golden Virginia pure not mixed with nasty tobacco products, satisfied my needs. End of day the concept of deliberately inhaling any form of smoke is bizarre

I have a humidor that I don't need any more together with the humidification solution that I got from Simply Cigars. I anyone wants it let me know. I live in East Kent but could bring it up in the car before a home match.

It's all down to personal choice of course, but the Cuban cigars are vastly over rated in my opinion. Although I don't smoke anymore I would often buy the Dominican Republic Cigars over anything else, especially a cigar called 5 Star (not the group).....

Ok, so by way of an update on my journey into the unknown realm of Cigar smoking, i've now purchased a humidor, cutter, lighter/blowtorch ensemble and wait for it...£200 worth of cigars!! Wellllll, you cant have a half empty humidor can you! All will be delivered over the next few days. So I'll season the humidor and get stuck in....keep an eye out for a 2nd Hand Cigar Collection for sale thread just in case it goes Pete Tong!
