Good morning all. Apologies for starting a new thread on this subject. Some of you from old may remember me from days gone by playing football up at Crystal Palace park probably around 10ish years ago where it was CPFC fans against MFC fans which culminated in that game at Selhurst between us both. After the events of yesterday on the tram and after reading the tragic news this morning that one of the deceased is one of yours of no age, I felt I had to come back online and re-register to send my regards to any of you that have directly or indirectly affected. Personally, I travel the tram day in day out. It is an absolutely superb service. The events of yesterday are truly shocking and probably like a lot of you I'm struggling to come to terms with the accident. The news this morning that a Palace fan of 19 years has lost his life is truly awful. My son of 12 years uses the line also and was only 30 minutes out from travelling so clearly we are as a family thanking a few lucky stars this morning but the seriousness of this tragedy is not lost on us all. Rivalries aside, thinking of anyone who has been affected.

Am I wrong to forward the suggestion that Palace arrange a minute's silence before the next home game kicks off? We are a broad community family that speaks and works beyond our football fans and yet both locality and club supporters have tragically lost loved ones. Surely a fitting tribute should be staged from the region's capital sports club...

There's been some suggestions on social media of a minutes applause at 19 minutes for the young man named today who has died. Lovely idea but I feel a minutes silence before kick off would be more appropriate to remember all the victims, their families and the badly injured. Players imo should also wear black arm bands. The club is at the heart of the community in croydon and the club and it's fans should really lead the way with this

Thank you for the post, JSS, it's good see see that, even with rivalries like ours, we can still come together is bad times. I think the whole thing has rocked the community, and like has been said earlier, we should commemorate all of those who have been affected by the crash, as we are a community club.

The club website have acknowledged this: Would like to think that they'll already have a minute silence on their agenda, but it might be worth somebody giving someone at the club a nudge.
