On the serious side though, these cases are always interesting - 24 year old teacher shagging a willing 13 year old girl is a paedo-wrong'un and we'll all be suggesting he should be strung up, but reverse the genders and somehow it just doesn't seem so bad.

It doesn't, but it is. Its still taking advantage of a minor sexually. The difference is that we maybe see it differently, because we can easily admit that we'd have been the wronged party and we can identify with why they, the victim, would do it. That said, it doesn't mean its not any more damaging or less wrong than if the genders were reversed, because we can't identify with the impact it would have on later life (as most of us I assume weren't having sex with 24 year olds when we were 13).
