It's great. A boy from the school wrote to Banksy to explain one of the houses in the school had been named after him. Banksy snuck in during half term and painted the piece.

Rolf Harris used to do the same. Hence the catchphrase, 'Can y'see what I'm doing?' (Ans: We'd rather not!)

For fun, I sometimes admit to people in my office that I don't like Banksy. The next evening they wake me up in the night with burning torches and pitchforks.

Did you hear any of the kids and teachers from the school on the news yesterday? They were overjoyed that a major contemporary artist who has many that revere his work (whether you like his work or not - art is subjective) had produced a piece for their school. If the teachers are worth their salt, they will get loads of good work out of this from the kids. I think it's great. The school head said "We are very thrilled about it, and it's great for the school community. I'm sure it will inspire the children. The staff had to make quite a few calls this morning to make sure nobody cleaned it off. It really is amazing." Read more: [Link] Edited by nickgusset (07 Jun 2016 9.24am)

I've heard they're going to cover it in perspex to keep it safe. That said, Banksy did say the kids could add to it if they wanted.

However if I did this I'd have been chased or it would've been scrubbed off. Mind you I have never truly understood most modern art. I used to work at the tate gallery and saw tracey Emin's bed...and half a horse etc. I just thought they were the luckiest people alive. with millions of adoring moronic 'follow the next sheep's opinions' fans. Then I'd walk into the traditional historical paintings room displays... and saw canaletto's and so on, and undrstood this was pure talent. Something I'd never ever be able to copy or do myself. Pure talent. Being able to draw what we'd think as simple; like a glass bottle...do you know how hard that must be? and im not talking and black pencil outline or a light blue vase... now I see most of this modern stuff and I think with time and interest I could emulate some of that. Most. Not all.
