The crime here is the quality of the joke. Its probably kind of racial etc, but it hardly racially aggravated assault or what not.

This kind of s**t is what civil court is for.

I don't see a problem with that. A lot of court cases are about financial gain and punishment. The idea that this should be dealt with as a criminal matter is absurd though unless there was more to it than a 's**t joke'.

As I understand it, the subject of the joke hasn't pursued charges. He was Gazza's security.

I believe someone in the audience complained to police, who said they'd press charges, then decided they wouldn't and then changed their mind again.
