Don't bother ringing them to explain... let them call you to find out where you are.

I use a local mechanic for my servicing. He uses genuine parts and replaces the brake pads when they've actually worn out, rather than at a set mileage with loads of the pads left. I've saved hundreds of pounds using him and he does the work on my driveway, and he drives it to the MOT centre too.

Mostly Car dealers use apprentice mechanics for servicing, yet charge you top dollar for the privilege.

I would only use the main dealer for warranty work or recalls to fix problems.

That's a comfort to know about Vauxhalls sevicing policy, seeing as I had mine done yesterday. At least they washed it properly,no doubt had the workshop foreman on that task.

Try owning an Alfa, about the only people who seem to know what is wrong are the dealers.

Had an engineer management light come on, looked it up on the Alfa forums. Told me it was a slack timing chain. Took it into an independent garage, they told me the car wasn't old enough to need a new timing chain. Funnily enough, after all, I was told it was a slack timing chain.

Thank god, it was under a warranty.

No wonder he's a vauxhall tech then!, having worked in the motor trade for 25years+ I can assure you that the apprentices arent allowed near anything like servicing on their own without a qualified tech checking their work as they go.

Rediculously low px prices you say! Working in the car trade, time and time again people change their cars for a reason! Not because they put a fresh mot and service ready to px but because they know something is expensively wrong. Let me tell you the public don't help them selves when it comes to trust.

As for px prices the Internet has given people the ability to know the price of a PX before they even arrive at the dealer. Dealers are interested in making a profit on the car they are selling and happy to give you what they expect to get back in an auction no more no less. That is the market price.
