Dead easy this but they will think you can cook. Salmon en croutes using puff pastry, with braised fennel and mash. Half an hour all in.

Moroccon chicken tagine is very easy to make and good for a dinner party. Recommend serving with a nice burgundy, a Macon or Pouilly Fuisse will accompany the dish well.

I often do a couple of Spanish tapas dishes as starters and tend to select things that can be cooked in advance. As a fish lover who lives in the land of cod and haddock I would go for a barbecued fish as you have such a marvellous selection of fresh fish to select from
