Walked out of work!

As the title says today I became so stressed out at work I basically just told my boss that's me f%#k this s%$t and drove home. I'm usually a very easy going person and this is totally out of character. I work in construction and was fitting ducting. Anyone ever walk out of a job before? It must be the run we are on catching up with me!

Occssionly wanted to do this but never have. Can imagine having a hell yea f you boss im the man feeling! Then the sudden realisation that im now unemployed

I did it as a teenager in a telesales job. Lasted two days cold-calling, selling windows. I turned the electricity supply off on the way out. Can't remember why, but it seemed a justifiable thing to do at the time.

Can remember why I left in the first place now.

My last job worked for 8 years, i had enough and walked out after two hours! came back an hour later said i had hour lunch, finished my shift and swore id never work there again and took a year off with stress

I did this once, my boss messaged me and told me to take a week off to think about it. I was back in the office a few days later. Any jobs better than none.

I sympathise because I felt like that every day for more than three years working for a blatantly ageist organisation. However, at my time of life I knew it was going to be difficult to be re-employed elsewhere on my salary so held on until I was ready and got everything I felt I was owed. Take a deep breath and resist any temptation to react to provocation. Always sleep on it but if you've made up your mind to go take a longer-term view to suit your needs and don't give them any opportunity to sack you. Use your sick "allowance" wisely and plan around it. Be aware of your rights and obligations. It can never a nice situation to be in but somehow it seems more bearable if you know you are screwing them as hard as they've screwed you!

The one time I resigned from something without an alternative lined up cost me a marriage, so it's not something to take lightly.
