What do you want from Newcastle/Sunderland?

I know we always say take care of our own results and we don't have to worry about other teams but this is a hypothetical question if Palace continue to struggle and get really involved with the relegation fight.

I think a draw is the best result but looking at other factors I'm leaning towards a Sunderland win.

What worries me is that despite being mocked at Chelsea, Benitez is certainly not a fat Spanish waiter. In fact, whilst the thugs at Stamford Bridge were calling him that, he was busy winning them the Europa (something I bet they'd love this season).

If he picks up his first point or 3 early enough, the momentum could swing his way. Losing to Sunderland does the Geordie's confidence a world of harm every time and being such over-ambitious fans, they might already start rumbling to sack Benitez if they lose to their biggest rivals.

There's also the fact that they are the team in the relegation zone at the moment. An easy point to forget. Despite only being a point behind Sunderland, if Sunderland escape relegation as things stand, that doesn't drag Palace into it. It can only drag us to 17th. Are we at the stage of the season yet where the bottom 3 might not move at all? If so, we want them all to continuously lose.

Despite all this, I think a draw is still the best result at this stage of the season for me but a Newcastle win would be terrible. Especially with us still playing them away.

I think that most Geordie fans are realistic and whilst they know that Benitez is a highly capable manager they also know that he's not a miracle worker and that's probably what they need.

Geordie fans realistic? Really?
Are these the same fans got on Robsons' back when the going got tough?
The same fans that clamoured for the Great Lord Twunt Shearer to be put in charge for 8 odd games to save them?
They're among the most delusional set of fans going and that's saying something when you got Brighton fans vying with them for top spot in the top flight of the delusion league sponsored by delusions R us.

If they were realistic, they wouldn't have wanted Pardew gone, or McLaren out. The manager isn't the issue at Newcastle.

All football fans are delusional, but Newcastle fans seem to be some of the most misguided in the country.

Newcastle have the (theoretically) easiest run-in of the bottom 6 as they still have to play five of the bottom six clubs.

A draw would probably be the best result, maybe with injuries and red cards on both sides thrown in for good measure.

Palace have to start getting more points on the board starting on Saturday.

As you can see from my re-imagining of your quote they aren't too different from Palace fans

The major difference between Newcastle and Palace is that we have owners who care about the club and act in it's best interests whereas Newcastle's owner only ever acts in his own interests and couldn't really care less about the welfare of the club

I think they're a lot different to Palace fans. Well any Palace fan I know.
None of us think we're a big club for starters.

With an average attendance of twice ours and fourth in the Premiership despite playing awful football I think that they are entitled to think of themselves as a big club

They get big attendances because there's f*** all else up there to do. Not many other clubs competing for supporters either.
As for their prem finish, just the season before it started, we finished 3rd as I'm sure you're aware.
That must qualify us for big club status according to your logic then?

I was referring to attendances when I said that they were fourth in the league with average attendance of just under 49,000 yet we can't fill our ground which is only just over half the size of theirs.

Newcastle may not have won anything for quite a while but they have a rich history whereas Palace by contrast are historically a mid Championship club.

But the last cup they won outside of promotions was in 69.
How this makes them a footballing behemoth I don't know.
