Bet it does - Osborne's already talking about 2p per ltr as the price of oil has dropped so dramatically, to make up for the shortfalls from North Sea oil.

How about restructuring HMRC and bringing in new legislation to wipe out tax avoidance & evasion so that we can start to claw back estimated £100bn due.

Hopefully he will introduce a flat tax rate.

Tax evasion is already illegal. Avoidance is not.

True. But for the last few years Cameron has been trying to blur the distinction in peoples' minds, so we all end up believing they are as bad as one another.

Why would anyone want to pay more tax than they have to?

Far too expensive in pubs.
A large glass of wine for my wife and a pint for myself is not far off £10 locally.
Pubs are closing the length and bredth of this country as not many can afford to drink !

I wish. I don't actually mind paying higher taxation, but the whole current system is increasingly labyrinthine (to the point that neither HMRC or my Accountant can truly judge my tax status).

Everyone earning over say 20k, should pay between 33-45% taxation on all income over 20k, rolling up all of the various stealth tax systems into one flat rate payable at a fixed rate, by everyone.

Companies should be charged taxation based on access to UK markets and where the income in generated, not on where they are registered.
