Canada is proposing to roll this out too now... $900 a month to all to cover certain expenditures - travel, clothing, food and certain bills.

Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping.

I like the idea, but it'll never catch on here. We're too busy penalising the poor to actually create a system that is fairer to all.

Would one get it on top of any wage earned?

That's the Nexit to follow then as the Dutch wouldn't be allowed to deny migrants these payments.

Yes. Essentially its like the x amount you can earn before paying any tax coupled with welfare, but with much less complications and loopholes.

Should only apply to citizens.

Finland can't leave as Fixit doesn't sound like you're leaving.

This says Ontario are trying it, not Canada as a whole.

But the EU won't let us do that.

Benefits only apply to EU Citizens after they have worked for at least 3 years in the UK. After five years they can apply to become UK citizens and get full entitlement.

Penalising the middle and working classes more like.

The poor are well looked after in this country.

If that was the case there wouldn't be any poor people.

I don't know about well looked after, but they're definitely more secure than people who have low paid and minimum wage jobs, who are being screwed.

I disagree about the middle classes, they're doing alright, though plenty of upper working class people who think their middle class are getting screwed as well (and not just by the Conservatives).
