Is this an example of it having gone mad, in objections being presented to the accurate portrayal of a terror attack during a training excercise?

Interesting. I've said on here before how those with left wing tendencies don't seem to have a sense of humour because they've got so much angst about themselves and others. There's always a cause to fret about and defend. John Cleese is saying pretty much the same thing. Cue the Lefties on here to get upset......
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

Quite agree, within reason. There is a point to political correctness, which often gets missed, its not an end in its own right, but a means of highlighting inequality in power relationships within a society; such as relates to race and gender. So, an irony of this, is that the likes of many Politically Incorrect comedians, such as Frankie Boyle, is that they're in fact not politically incorrect. Much of their humour ironically causes us to question our own apriori and subtexual (i think) understanding of language, which is where racial prejudice is largely manifested A great example of this is The US Office with the 'Chris Rock' moment (similarly the UK) - the point of use of the N word is neither racist or politically incorrect, because its use makes us address issues of race and racism within society, culturally and psychology - and really cleverly, ideas of reverse racism. There is a big difference between say calling someone a **** to get a laugh, and then using the word **** to lampoon racists or criticise racism. Sadly, many people who shout political correctness, don't understand that the idea of political correctness is to correct people, but to get them thinking and talking about issues, even if its absurdly stupid (like Ba-Ba-Black Sheep being racist - Which patently isn't true or a real story - in thinking about it, you can't help but think about racism and address your own understanding).

It is quite possibly not even realistic, as its probably something we've adopted more from media culture than reality. Apparently the last words of a British Suicide bomber Majeed, were 'I'm sorry, I don't speak Arabic' (from an attack at Aleppo Prison). I included this, because its kind of perversely funny. It seems others have been 'Help Me', 'He's Not my Boyfriend' and bursting into tears (where they have been caught on camera). It may very well be that the shout of 'Allah Akhbar' is common, but personally I think 'He's not my Boyfriend' and 'I'm sorry I don't speak Arabic' are more suited to a post on politically incorrect comedy.

For me political correctness is just another way for the purse lipped lunatics of the left to stifle free speech. An example is you can't call some one from pakistan a p@ki. All P@ki is, is an abbreviation of pakistan. If someone is from Scotland we call them a Scot don't we? There are many incidences of free speech being stifled by p*l*t**l c**r*ectness and stopping us using plenty of innocent words. How this kind of deranged behaviour ever became accepted as the norm I will never ever know. Edited by fed up eagle (10 May 2016 6.12pm)

It's so over-used it has become meaningless. If someone shouted it in the street I'd tell them to pipe down.

Is political correctness a bastion of the left? Or of conservatives (with a small c)? Perhaps the irony is that a lot of lefties are very unpc (see Ken Livingstone). Someone said earlier about not being able to say **** and that was no different to calling someone a Scot. However **** has been coopted by racists as a derrogatory expression. The equivalent for a Scot would be Jock. I guess whatever the situation PC has its place PC gone mad does not. Who decides where the line is?
