I didn't seriously know about this until last year when I started to get really interested in everything he has done, I heard it mentioned briefly here and there but did not realise how much of it there is around, this and the 'Truth contest' it's nuts.

Leave Macca alone. For every turkey there is a work of genius.

A rumor did the rounds that he was actually dead at the time the Abbey Road album came out. The famous cover picture was meant to be a clue to the public that he had in fact died. If you look at the picture of the lads crossing the road, behind is a VW Beetle with the number plate 28IF. 28 would have been Paul's had he had lived.
On the crossing itself Paul I believe is in the middle of Ringo and George who were meant to be the funeral bearers whilst John was said to be the funeral director. Paul is out of step with the others and also barefoot.
Bit of a fan i'm afraid - even named my son Lennon.. toyed with calling one of daughters Eleanor Rigby but pleased to say that the Mrs got the better of me on that one.

Capable of pure genius, produced so many standards.

I tend to forget the Frog chorus though.

The poor Frog Chorus receives a lot of stick, but people forget its target audience. It was part of a Rupert the Bear animation, written for kids, aimed at kids. I still have an old VHS version of it from about 1985; I still have flashbacks to the terrifying b-side Oriental Nightfish!

As it has come up...

I sang in a concert in Winchester Cathedral just before Christmas and our conductor was Brian Kay, the man who sung the bass frog part on the Frog Chorus! (Somewhat tenuous link but there you go!)

Back on topic - Paul Mac is capable of works of utter genius. You just need to be selective with what you listen to of the music he has produced since the Beatles split!

The grammarista in me cannot get past:

"And in this ever changing world in which we live in"

It makes my teeth hurt its so bad.

Yep, it's when you sit down and take stock that you realise what they achieved and the amount of influence they had, I've always taken them for granted and never delved terribly deep, it's only then you become aware of all the other older musicians we have around today and the connection they had with them, the amount of hours playing in Germany I had no idea about and to think without it they probably would never have become anything! good name for your son.
