It might make a difference if buying healthy produce was made cheaper in tandem. I've just moved back to England from Spain and cannot believe the price of fruit and veg here in comparison. When you can go to ASDA and buy a load of frozen pizzas with zero nutritional value for next to nothing, no wonder there are so many fat b******s waddling the streets.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Laziness and lack of knowledge when it comes to food preparation are an issue as well so you would have to start teaching kids at school how to cook and why you should. I'd agree with that over ideas like the sugar tax which is just another tax on the poor.

Agreed. Laziness and lack of knowledge when it comes to food preparation are an issue as well so you would have to start teaching kids at school how to cook and why you should. If PE is compulsory then I see no reason why cookery shouldn't be as well when both could be seen as health orientated.

This is why i believe the govt should put the onus on the manufacturers, personally.
If it isn't there it can't be bought. Similar to me and cigs. If they were banned then i'd stop smoking.
The weak willed are a cash machine........but big business, as ever, has the final say. It's far easier (if the want is there) to restrict them than us.

Time to move forward together.

I'm not sure people walk round Asda stocking up on Rustler burgers while singing 'All About That Bass' and insisting they're proud of their lifestyle but we should definitely not be encouraging, facilitating or doing anything else other than suggesting they don't fill up their trolley with junk. It's paradoxical because we're very quick to excuse people on the grounds of medical conditions but in this example we're making exceptions for the lazy which we'd never do for an alcoholic or bulimic.

It was obvious in making her comment she had in mind the obese, rather than a plus-size model for example.

I'm not sure people walk round Asda stocking up on Rustler burgers while singing 'All About That Bass' and insisting they're proud of their lifestyle but we should definitely not be encouraging, facilitating or doing anything else other than suggesting they don't fill up their trolley with junk.

It's paradoxical because we're very quick to excuse people on the grounds of medical conditions but in this example we're making exceptions for the lazy which we'd never do for an alcoholic or bulimic.

Are you suggesting banning ready meals/un-nutritious food? I think that is quite draconian. Nothing wrong with treats/easy meals on occasion.
