Just some vague musings about (potential) Scottish independence. Sturgeon's PR team are right 'on-the-ball', from speeches to photo-genic posturing. But for me , there are a few down-sides. 1. She is a ginge

It beggars belief that the Scottish public have swallowed all this 'fairness' bollocks which is based upon an economic calculation made five years ago. It also beggars belief because the SNP are an independent government. Education, employment and policing standards are all falling under heir watch and no one is questioning this, largely because Labour are in disarray and the Tories hated North of the border. However the most worrying aspect is the comparisons with 1930's Germany. Opponents are bullied, a single party state is being promoted and a toxic nationalism is being forced upon people. It is blatantly obvious to all and sundry that Scotland would be a mess independent and certainly I like most Unionists believe that we are better together but it would be bloody funny to watch the whole thing unravel after the SNP break their promise of no more referendums until they win one. If the Scot's think that independence will bring a new eldorado, they are sorely mistaken.

Those that have voted SNP in Scotland are like the Corbynistas in England, blind to reality and want change without acknowledging that those they are pinning their hopes on would lead them to disaster. The we hate The Tories brigade. You rightly mention the lower oil price and also the effect on the Clyde workers if Scotland do go independent as all the work done there would move south... it would have to for security purposes. A lot of the Edinburgh based financial institutions would move south too. Standard Life, Scottish Widows and the HBOS arm of Lloyds. Scotland would quickly be up sh1t creek without a paddle economically and we would have another serious economic migrant situation on our hands. It would be funny but sad at the same time.

I think I could just about crack sufficient wood for the task were she to be hooded and, more importantly, gagged. Not something I'd actively go for, mind.

I've completely changed my mind on Scottish independence. I was all for the union, but since the Scots voted to stay part of it, it's never been far from the SNP agenda to get it back on the table. Sooner or later they'll win (remember they only have to win once, the Union has to win all of them) I'd rather bite the bullet and get it done now - the low oil price just makes it more attractive as their only card turns out to be worthless)

The we hate The Tories brigade. Lets hope so, given that the SNP went on to win all but three of the Scottish seats. That'd put the cat among the proverbial fat cats.
