s***'s getting a bit heavy now with Russia flexing it's military muscle , creating a line of instability from Syria to Ukraine- teasing UK, US, NATO into some sort of reaction - could it be a possible tactic of the Uk government be to squeeze Russian money/ investments, by default hurting Abramovic and Chelsea?- we would see how much Mourihnio 'Loves' Chelsea then!

Quite aside from the political and military upheaval leading to the very minimum a new cold war!

Interesting times ahead on so many levels.

This could go in General or football talk, but both could be linked ultimately.

It'll be interesting to see what the police estimate the crowds to be this weekend at the rally in Trafalgar Square you know the one by 'Stop the War' & 'Islam for peace' and their like. Or we can look forward to getting sound bites on BBC news from Jezza and other left wingers and irate trade unionists decrying brutal invasion by an occupying force BUT I've just realized Its Russia which has launched these attacks not the USA so I'm guessing most people will be watching the Rugby or smashing up Cereal Killer cafes in East London.

Proxy War between the US and Russia. Russia desperately trying to hang onto one of its only allies and the US with a 'better dead than red' attitude to stability in the country. If you're looking for the good guys you're tuned into the wrong station.

It's all so FUBAR, and there will be some irony that the dickheads will fail to see.

No silly everyone will drop bombs and it'll pan out wonderfully like it did for Russia and Allied forces in Afghanistan and the allied forced in Iraq! And let's not forget our successes in Libya. We never fail when we try to take out dictators.

Russia will continue to probe and take liberties while they see how weak and generally ineffective Obama is.

Obamacare is one of the most effective pieces of legislation in US history. Do you ever take the blinkers off?

Just because he doesn't have the yippee kai-ay motherfooker approach of his predecessors it doesn't mean that he is weak.

In truth there isn't really anything anyone can really do. Russia never really 'gets heavy' when the US does something, and the US never really gets 'heavy' when Russia does something. Some rhetoric, sabre rattling, but in truth the best outcome in Syria, for the West is probably an Assad victory with a peace settlement between the Kurds and Assad regime.

The 'Free Syrian Army' is another Libya waiting to happen, consisting of about sixty different factions, some of which are very Islamist (just a different kind of Islamist, the kind that maybe have more in common with Iran, than say IS). The Opposition council exactly resembles that of the Libyan opposition, and includes factions very similar to Islamic Jyhad and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Probably, but I don't really see the US doing any 'good in the world' militarily either, just trying to clean up their own mess.
