During my childhood, Queen was it for me. Freddie just amazing. They played Milton Keynes(where i lived) in '82 but i was just 13 and didnt have the money to go, and their last tour was in '86 so i never got to see them live. But they seem somewhat revived these days, selling out tours. But i just think Adam Lambert is hollow sounding. I know there will never be another Freddie, and to me hes the best rock vocalist of all time, but even taking into account Freddie's unique greatness, i still think Lambert falls very flat. Is it just me ? How is queen thought of these days in Blighty ?

No Freddie, no John Deacon..... it's just another tribute band. A bit superior to your average tribute band I grant you, but Queen was Queen and they were unique. Like the Beatles, they should have stopped when Freddie died and just left us with the music and the memories.

Not as ridiculous a situation as the Sugababes.... The original 3 members have now got back together, but can't call themselves the Sugababes as that band are still going with 3 replacements. As for Queen now ... I haven't heard the new stuff, but I went off them towards the end of Freddie's reign anyway. At their height though they were stadium fillers.

Never liked Queen, but their only real quality that set them apart was the fact that Freddie Mercury was a phenomenal vocalist. Its like The Doors with Morrison. Irreplaceable.

I gave up on Queen once they released A Kind Of Magic which was truly awful as they pandered to the money men at EMI. They'd had some dodgy records prior to this album but Magic really killed them off. I love listening to their early stuff and their live album Live Killers remains a brilliant album. Freddie wasn't just a great singer he was the complete artist and could hold a crowd like no one else. His passing was a sad loss!
Cynic or realist? It's a fine line! |

He shagged like Russell Brand on speed the daft gay. Adam Lambert is not fit to wipe down out his leather chaps were he still alive.

Queen are one of the best rock bands ever to come out of the UK. Their like will not come again. P.S. There is a great Queen bootleg from their earlier days, sometimes known as "Sheetkeekers," that every Queen fan should hear.

How on earth do you know that Hoof? Shows that we don't know each other on here, I would have put you down as more of an All Saints man. Queen had a few decent pop tunes but mostly it was dross. Didn't do themselves any favours by playing Sun City either.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |
