I think the time is here. The grass may not always be greener and all that but I would rather give it a crack than sit and wonder.

How many have been through it? Long ago or recently.

Friends of our moved out to Perth 12 years ago. Took them about 6 years to settle. They both have good jobs with a good income and a better standard of living then they had here. negatives are the heat they struggle with this still. Surprisingly there are a lot of Immigrants in Perth that cause issues. Another Pal left and came back after 2 months, hated it and struggled for work. Brother inlaws brother went last year and is doing really well, He is 24yrs old and earning good money and made lots of new friends. Went on his own and everyone expected him back with a couple of weeks but he has stuk it out and loves it. Think its down to what you want out of life. You have a trade which is great and you will not have a problem finding work. All the Premier League games are shown on the TV out there but must be strange getting up at 6am to watvh games.Wish you all the very best but remember flights to Europe are not cheap from OZ and you might have to shell out for our European games next season.

I lived in Australia for nearly 5 years. Ended up moving to Canada afterwards due to wife being Canadian. (I prefer Canada)

Aus is great but be prepared for very high property prices and the fact that it is very very far away from the rest of the world.

Anyway, I digress.

A great website full of info and help from expats is britishexpats.com. make yourself an account, read the wikis, ask questions. best resource around IMO.

My brother has lived in the Sydney area, on and off for over 30 years. If it wasn't for his family settled out there he would return to the UK. My Brother-in-law and his wife moved to Australia many years ago, returned to UK but went back a few years ago. Wouldn't be surprised if he also returned.

Last time I was in Australia was in 1998. Had nice time with the family but I wouldn't live there.

Tasmania would be the only place whose climate i could tolerate. All the other bits are just a giant Oven.

Me and my wife moved to Perth 8 years ago.
We wanted to start a family & did not want my kids growing up In croydon.
Might sound a bit harsh, but I didn't like the way the place was heading.
Best decision I ever made.
Got a decent job straight away. Bought a five bed house with a pool 10 minutes from the beach for the price of a small terraced house in croydon.
Lots of Brits here. I live north of Perth.
It helps if you have family here, my wife struggled a bit at first.
Definitely go with an agent. Well worth the money.
Beer is expensive, Watching palace in the early hours is a pain.
But overall it's a lovely place to live. Brilliant for a young family. Very safe & clean.

Me and my wife moved to Perth 8 years ago.

I had family who used to reside in 'Dianella' but they have sadly both passed away. Many years ago I met a couple who came from 'Leeming'.
I have heard only positive things about Perth.

Glad it worked out for you. I think it's quite brave to up sticks and take a chance like that. Nice that there's lots of ex-pats there too. Best of both worlds.
