I must have seen the Indy films like 600 times each but one thing has always bothered me… when he punches bad guys do they die? They certainly seem to be out for the count but are they dead? And if they are does this make Indy a mass murderer??

If he punches them into a plane rotor then they are definitely dead

good question bobby82... In a lot of movies you are left wondering whether the good guys kill the bad guys or just leave them seriously injured. Those stormtroopers in star wars... when they get shot do they just die, end up in hospital or are they left rolling around on the floor dying in agony? Who knows?
In the tv series of the A team (showing me age here) I remember they made a point of not killing anyone on the show so after every explosion or car crash you'd always see the guys or gals rolling around shaking their head in a daze wondering how they managed to stay alive... great stuff

I dunno why the A Team bothered with guns. You could paint the Forth bridge in the time they take to finish a darts match.

John Wick definitely left his antagonists dead. No matter how many times he'd shot them already, he always put one in the brain.

He is a disciple of Johnny Casper.

As an aside, I think this is why Saving Private Ryan was such a powerful movie. The horrors of more recent wars had been well-explored in movies over the years, Vietnam in particular. But WW2 had been documented in movies that had "clean", one shot / no blood, deaths while the heroes got wounds in the arm and required merely a bandage. That war was also at a time when those who'd suffered it horrors, when they came home, just sucked it up and got on with it (I say this as a credit to those who served, not to denigrate at all those who served later).

So here comes squeaky clean Tom Hanks and "E.T's" Stephen Speilberg with a feel-good WW2 movie in which they save the lovable Matt Damon. It's all there in the title. Then the landing craft close in on the beach...

Let's be honest. Most of the people Indy kills are in self-defence. The people he sneeks up on to disarm, for example, are just to knock them out.

In Temple of Doom, he actually tries to save the big guard on the rock crusher, who tries to kill him.

It was like this on A Team as well. Someone would get sprayed with bullets and just sort of fall over a bit.
