I agreed a bargain last night - she gets to watch Xfactor and I get to watch MOTD - but was told that there is three and half months of Xfactor s***e to come! I f***ing hated Cheryl Cole, someone called Nick I have never heard of and some other singer I have never heard after mere minutes of the show. I yearn for the days when Saturday night TV was Cannon & Ball doing something unfunny with some bemused guest celebrities followed by Tales of the Unexpected (because as a young lad, it was often your first, furtive view of side boob happened during the show). PS. It f***ing on again now! Sunday night used to be Bulleye.

I remember the 'Tiller Girls' and Jack Parnell.Used to be hosted by Jimmy Tarbuck and Norman Vaughan amongst others. Liked the bit at the end when all the artists used to stand on a revolving stage and wave to the audience.

I made a similar deal with the missus, only to discover X-Factor was on last night as well. Bring back Noel's House Party on a Saturday night!

Can't abide all these shows like "X Factor", "Strictly Come dancing", "Britain's got talent" etc with panels whereby they have to have one "Baddie" on the panel with the sugary sweet ones. And you don't even know the winner for bloody weeks. Give me "Opportunity Knocks" anyday with that "Clapometer". I know I am sounding like an old git but I am 63 this year so getting that way.

X-Factor was predictable and boring but also constantly interrupted by inane advertising. Surely, Simon Cowell you've had your day? ...your programme format is underwhelming and tedious. There can't be many more people (or dogs) left for you to exploit?

I've never understood the point of X Factor? If someone had amazing singing talent they would get spotted naturally, so this competition is to find the best singer from all the mediocre wannabe's who wouldn't ordinarily make it cos they are not quite good enough. You usually end up with someone who is a mediocre version of an already famous act. What's the point?

NO ! I've heard of Tommy Trinder ! In fact my late mother-in-law's mother and Tommy and Freddie Trinder's mother knew each other and used to go on outings together.Never did meet my mother-in-law's mother - she had passed away.
