What a load of pony.
Anti smoking saying it will influence children in garden to smoke.
Why don't you ban drinking beer in the garden while you at it.
It's a pub for f***s sake.
If want to take kids out GOTO McDonald's
What next no crisp's or peanuts in case you influence some large person to get some pork scratchings by the bag load.

Get it on-get it in-F**K OFF ALAN HANSEN!!

Also, so what if they might smoke. F**k it, we need the revenue. I agreed with the smoking ban in pubs, because it was backed by scientific evidence of the threat of passive smoking (they should have allowed smoking only pubs mind).

People who are annoyed should remember those people smoking and drinking, are paying for their kids education.

Also, it a pub, don't take your kids, its really not for them, and there is nothing more tragic than 'family friendly pubs'. You wouldn't take them to a Rave, drop a few E's, so why make them watch you drink.

While the wellbeing police are at it they may as ban children from Macdonalds. It turns small people into gluttonous lardies in adulthood with rotten teeth. It will make it easier to get served though!

That they sell s**t for food would see me close them all down. F**king disgusting muck. You can find better tasting fast food alternatives everywhere.

This is the type of thing an advisor comes up with to try and justify their salary. F*cking joke, and I don't even smoke. It's outdoors FFS.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Beer gardens and parks. It'll be in your own garden before long.

If you have kids you make the sacrifice on where to go and what to do, not the kids. Get yourself down the soft play centre and leave the pubs kid free.

It is not just about beer gardens, they are also lookimg or a ban in al fresco eating areas of restaurants, parks, and outside school gates.

Makes sense to me (as an ex-smoker).

Most certainly not European.

If they remove the tax from smoking, and instead recoup it from anyone who has children I'd say its a fair compensation for the restriction of freedom.

If your kids are influenced by seeing other people smoking, to take up smoking, then you probably a s**ty parent. They'll smoke, most likely, because their friends will try it, and they'll give it a go.

Seeing random people in public smoking as a child, I have yet to see that as a significant factor in people taking up smoking.

Smoking in pub garden areas is in the open air, that's what the smoking bans were originally imposed on smokers for (smoke out in the open air) just in case the non smokers sniff it, perhaps they should start up children free public houses, this comment is bound to get up someone's nose, I'm an ex-smoker and I'm glad in a way I did stop, some times I feel I would start again if only they weren't taxed so much, this non smoking ban nearly every where is bol-----, personally I think banning these bas----- on the roads that drive dangerously to close to your car's arse is more important, (ban those f***s),
