4 contenders, none of them up to much, but apart from Jeremy Corbyn all a step up from Miliband.

Which do you prefer?

My preference would be Corbyn for an easy Tory re-election in 5 years time. He is the Union's favourite, just like Miliband was and very left wing in his views.

Labour need to sort out their economic credibility to stand a chance of gaining power ever again.

The Labour party will be like the Tories were after John Major, a succession of nondescript leaders and out of power for quite a few years.

If I was them, I'd go for Liz Kendall, but that's because she's basically a Tory. Labour are in a bit of a pickle, they either go right and basically give up Scotland or risk alienating England by being more anti-business.

I don't know what Chukka Umuna did to pull out of the race, but I'm glad he did it. He's actually electable. None of these are.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I think Andy Burnham should get the gig.

Andy Burnham is probably the strongest contender and the one that I suspect the Tories would least like to come up against. I've never even heard of Jeremy Corbyn.

It looks very weak of the party that their minority candidates are only interested in the more winnable option for them, which is the mayoral candidate.

Optimistic as ever

Burnham is the most presentable...however Corbyn is the grass roots man, who despite his grumpy exterior is quite a likeable bloke
