I read this recently Nick and thought it gave a very good background to his time as owner.

Not everybody's cup of tea, but it was clear from his descriptions of events that running a football club is no easy thing. Made me appreciate, even more, what a good job Mr Parish does.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I'm halfway through David Tossell's All Crazee Now about English football in the 70s and it's an enjoyable read, not so much for the usual Clough, Revie, Docherty stuff but background information on things like the Texaco and Watney Cups, the start of sponsorship and the increase in money and cultural shifts in the game.
He's quite a prolific writer (his biography of Malcolm Allison is pretty good too) although his style can be a bit discursive.
