Deeney tried to flick-chip from the short left side back towards the penalty spot and it deflected off Benteke. Guaita no chance 2-1. Then at the other end, on a routine high corner from Jairo to the far post, Benteke rose like Michael Jordan and headed a soft, well-placed shot back inside the near post, beautiful. 3-1.

FT 3-1 Phyisio's gonna be busy this week, Mitchell injury looks the worst. Going to be an interesting Matchday line-up next week.

A gulf in quality in the second half, which bodes well for this season given we were a long way from full strength. Gallagher came on and showed why we signed him (I must admit I was a bit confused as to the apathy of his signing). Huge amount of energy and hit a world class cross-field ball at one point. Tactically we played to maximise our attacking output without being exposed. Bright explained how when we go forward Ward slips in to make a back three to allow Mitchell to move onto the left wing with Ayew wide right and then the midfield joining the striker. It makes me wonder whether Anderson might eventually come in at right-back to begin with (unless Kouyate's injury is serious or he leaves). We looked far more mobile and our passing has improved. Guehi has the passing ability of Sakho but without the clown shoes. Give it a season and Chelsea will be back with cap in hand. Overall a confidence-boosting win, but most importantly the players seem to know what they are supposed to be doing. Nothing like the FdB debacle. This is only pre-season, but I'm feeling optimistic. As to Watford, based solely on that performance we might get to enjoy seeing them relegated for a second time!

I thought similar to you, Guehi, kouyate, mitchell excellent, Ward is to slow, Jairo excellent as the holding midfielder and corner taker, Ayew is no good on the right wing, Gallagher looked a class apart, Hamman did well when he came on, Benteke is the best CF we have at the moment, with Eze, Olise, Anderson and maybe Armstrong and Nelson all looks good, fingers crossed COYP
