I think roughly we will see a difficult next few months with players returning from injury, a lot of new faces and a new tactical approach needing time to bed in, and youth being given a chance. I suspect the team that plays the majority of games in December will look very little like the team that plays Chelsea in a couple of weeks' time.

Assuming by Christmas, everything has settled into place and we know our new strongest line-up and key depth, I expect the January window to involve a fair few departures. Luka, Kouyate, and a few others fit the profile of players we need around for the next six months but may become surplus to requirements once Viera's plan begins to really take root.

I agree with a lot of what you say here. It is certainly worth remembering that this is likely to be a season of transition, bringing hard times with it along the way if not handled with skill and care. I fear that those expecting a new look side we can enjoy watching will have to wait far longer than they perhaps appreciate.

I don't know about others But I feel a bit sorry for Roy. Yes we played Dire football but I feel he used the players we had the best he could.

He was given no funds and had to try to use the Solorth's, Jach and Rakip of this world bought by DF. I wonder if these funds and younger players had been given to him our style would have been different.

He has been attacked for not using our u23 players but how many who have left us have made it in EPL? Some of current crop may make it but they are not EPL standard yet but remember these youngsters and improved academy were developed during Roy's time.

Roy would have played these new players after about 4-5 months of training and reprogramming into defending for 80 minutes and never going too far in front of the ball. How long before we saw RLC? What did it take to play AWB? AWB was hardly prepared, was he? He followed the ball/player into the centre circle several times and didn’t know where to hold his position. He got away with it but you could tell it was an emergency and never in the planning. Roy with this many changes this season with unproven and unknown faces would’ve even interesting. Or would he just name 1 or 2 subs and not select any of them?

Love Roy did a great job. I’m not sure the players would have signed for us with him in charge. PV does seem to have a pull and attract players. Years gone by we would be linked with these players but for one reason or another they would go elsewhere.
Whether PV is as successful as Roy on the pitch remains to be seen, fingers crossed and playing more attractive footy.

Roy's gone. He did the job the club demanded of him whilst they saw out the last FFP cycle with barely any nett spend during his tenure. Let's move on and stop sniping.

He used Loftus cheek whenever he could,

Agreed. Move forward and onwards... Which is how I think our style of play would be, exciting times!

Interested to hear him talk about leading the team and not just the backline in his Palace TV interview.

New captain sooner than later?

Um, that's pretty unreasonable. Never let us down, put in some stellar performances over his time with us and always gives 100%.

Harsh. I think he'd be very good returning to defensive midfield.
