Going by those odds, I think it's laughable that Villa are in the same bracket as Brighton. I'm struggling to think of a Brighton player that definitely gets in Villa's team. They'd probably argue Dunk albeit I'm not necessarily convinced. See where we are after another couple of weeks of transfers. Would be surprised if we haven't progressed on that table by that point. If we picked up Lookman, Kabak and Gallacher we'd be starting to look pretty handy.

Strange thread as we're neither in the top three favourites for relegation nor, as our recent managerial search proved, are the bookies close to always being right. Our 4th favouritism is justified given our managerial change and the fact that we only have half a squad at the moment plus key injuries. However, with another 3/4 decent signings our odds will drift. A sensible answer...at last!

I'm fairly sure they could get into the Villa side too.

Well, fourfourtwo have us to finish bottom, behind also to be relegated Norwich and Watford. Then again, last season they predicted Brighton to finish about us and two seasons ago the predicted both Palace and Brighton to be relegated. Good click-bait for them, I suppose.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Sorry, but that's not correct. The pundits haven’t, but the bookies have…. I’m a bookie!

YT is definitely right. At the start of the 19/20 season to name but one Sky Bet had us as an 11/2 shot to go down. There were 8 other teams rated more likely.

I've just checked the odds. We are fourth favourite for relegation - near 2-1, Norwich are evens and Watford and Brentford aren't far off evens.

I'm not surprised with the changes that we will have to endure, we are on par with the teams coming up, unproven in the PL with our so far unknown new squad, coupled with long term injuries to key players and a new manager who has never managed a PL team. It goes without saying we must be one of the favourites for the drop as we would have been anyway under Roy with the old squad! Im going to say that Palace will always be in the bookies list of favourites to go down! No one likes us being the the Premier league. Edited by Deabo2030 (27 Jul 2021 11.47am)

The loss of McCarthy seems to have made the bookies more pessimistic
