Don't forget, we are now Category one which we did not have before, so the standard is so much higher than over the previous 10 years. Jesuran Rak-Sakyi and David Omulibu are already training with the first team, with the intent of blooding them. You can hear in Mark Bright's voice how special he thinks this kid is. Being released doesn't seem to be the issue, it's how the player responds. I think I'm correct in saying both Eze and Olise were released when they were younger, as was Mitchell (albeit that was because Brentford took the community-spirited gesture of closing their academy). A lot of ex-pros talk about having played with unbelievable players who just lacked the mental strength or desire to push on and actually make it as a professional. For some of these players who are released it could kickstart their careers and for some, sadly, it will end them. Btw, if you missed it, Kian Flanagan has already signed a deal with Barnet.

I wonder whether Omilabu isn't closer to a breakthrough than Jeserun who looks a bit physically short to me for top flight football - I can see him getting muscled out. There may be a core strength there that I'm missing but my memory is that Wilf was always a physical beast. If you take Omilabu's key skillset to eb able to put the ball in the back of the net - then that looks to be there :-) Originally posted by glaziermart
