SO lets keep it simple Palace paid 9m up front they would of had to give a % of his next transfer up as well which is reported as 20-30% well he transferred for 20m that is 6m taking it to 15m

i expect this is too complex for you to understand maybe just stick to thesun comments section

Ha ha ha, we signed him with a 30% sell on fee? I think a lot of things are too complex for you mate. Post a credible link or stop spouting s***e. 9m we paid or there abouts, 20m /15 m... dreaming.

My understanding is that Sorloth was purchased for £9 Mill rising to £16.5 Mill if certain conditions were met.

And they weren’t so 9m then!? No mention of a sell on fee any where on line. No mention of add ins either.

The rest of your figures made me chuckle? Are you joking? He’s spent money! f***ing hilarious! How long has he been here? The players and fees listed are so funny! Less than most teams spend when they get promoted.
We are pretty near the bottom of every transfer spend table for the last 5 years.
Criticising Roy is fine but don’t say he has had money to spend.... joke!

How much was the squad worth he inherited tho and the wage bill, ultimately its the boards fault but is it not down to the manager to put pressure on the board to spend money ? Not blaming Roy and I think he has been fairly happy with the squad and knows he can keep them up, which the board is happy with. Neither the board nor Roy seems to want drastic changes which is fair enough, he can do his job and the board are happy ticking along which is all well and good untill we end up in the position we are in now, all players past their best, out of contract, only a few players with a good sell on fee. The manager and the board are both to blame, especially if zaha goes aswell, we might aswell be a newly promoted side this summer.

Look at our squad, zaha is now a cf, so that's zaha, benteke, batshuayi, ayew, mateta and Wickham, what other teams in the league have 6 centre forwards ? We play 442 and have one proper winger who's legs have gone, parish, freedman and Hodgson are all equally to blame.

Goal differential is the best measure of how good a team is. WBA is worst in the league, then Sheffield. We're tied with Newcastle for 17th/18th place.

That seems like a pretty accurate assessment of how we have looked this season.

I honestly think we're better than Newcastle, but other bad teams like BHA and Fulham have dominated us when we played them.

So no, I don't think we are better than our points, I think we are worse than our points total. Not based on our roster, but based on how we have looked in the all the matches.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

We are exactly as our points total.

Goal difference is the best measure in your opinion, which is cool, but it's not fact.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

It wasn’t stated as a fact. It was an interesting piece of analysis that I admit I hadn’t considered before as a way of comparing teams. I must admit that I agree with him, that we have more points than we should have given the way we have played. Not complaining though because I would rather be where we are than having a decent goal difference and 6/8 points worse off.

'Better than we think?'
Interesting question.
My starting point would be that in our eighth consecutive season in the Premiership we should play better football than we do. Simple as that. When you are out-passed at home by a team like West Brom that's pretty damning. We don't seem to have any idea what to do with possession. Even in the 90th minute we were still giving the ball away. There was one piece of almost laughable lack of athleticism by Ward, who has genuine issues with giving the ball to someone on his side and, much as Ayew huffs and puffs, I fail to see what he contributes at the moment. Zaha was awful, but is coming back from injury and because he's Zaha he'll always be forgiven.
Doubtless some would regard this as negative but it isn't intended to be. I just think the product is shocking for, as I say, eighth consecutive season in the top flight. To ask whether one would prefer to be winning in the Championship than playing the mind-numbing football we are at the moment is something of a non-question. My case would simply be, that with the players we have, it should be possible to play better football. There's an almost Pythonesque stance taken by those who seem to believe that things couldn't be better than they are at present. It's a 'touching forelock' scenario where we say what a pleasure it is to be filled in by Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Spurs and even Burnley at home.
So, no, we are not better than we think. We are playing abysmal football at the moment. It is excusable if it keeps us in the Premiership, I suppose, but please...can we try something different next season?

What's amazing is that in the midst of 'Roy-out' and 'We are garbage' is the fact this current team/squad is on the brink of bringing home one of the greatest season's in the history of the football club.

Our highest-ever top-flight league finish is third (1991) and the next best is tenth (2015).

We are currently eleventh, which is equal third-best finish all-time.

I agree we have some good quality players. It's because of that that I find it so frustrating that Roy has us playing such negative football. With players as good as Wilf, Eze, Townsend, Guita and, yes, even Benteke, (and you could add others like Tomkins, Luka, Reidewald and PVA, maybe also Clyne and, who knows, maybe Mateta) why do we set up week after week like 4th division minnows facing giants?

You remember Alan Pardew?

When did Roy get money to spend?????? £50 mil from AWB - he had to make do with 5mil for Ayew and McCarthy - and those two buys basically kept us up last season. He can't rotate players if they're unavailable through injury, so do you blame the injury records of Tomkins, Cahill, Sakho, Dann, Kelly, Schlupp and MacArthur (lately), on Roy????? It's hard to rotate when you only have 14 players available. And Luka, McArthur, Townsend, Ward, McCarthy, and all our central defenders are past their peak, Roy has NOT been given sufficient funds to replace these players or enhance the squad, and we aren't as quick on the break anymore because we don't have a Bolasie and Puncheon in their prime on each wing. We have splashed out on Eze, and you can argue he has not been deployed as effectively as he might, but he is not part of the spine of the team, and to change the dynamic of our play we need to upgrade the supply to the likes of Eze and Zaha, and Roy has not been given the chance to do that, and I think that is what is stalling our progress, not Roy, he's just keeping us ticking over until we can implement the improvements needed to the ground as well as our level of financial investment.

Perfect.

I think we are good enough to do the job of staying in the premier league every season ! that is what the ambitions of the board is and that is what Roys job is , nothing more nothing less ! However , there has to be a major overhaul for next season to achieve this as most of the players are past their prime and are slowing in pace, dont get me wrong i love palace and always will but the game is getting faster and our team is getting older and slower. As Roy says there are games we dont expect to win and to be honest i wouldnt expect us to win . What i hate though is loseing 7 nill 4 nill 5 nil and shrugging the shoulders and saying move on to the next one. Its going to be a long summer and hopefully some new faces on the pitch .Also it will take a while for any new players to fit in to our way of playing . Its hard to be a palace fan sometimes but fcuk it who we going to support , Liverpool nah fcuk that id rather watch cricket and i fcuking hate cricket .
