I think at the time of signing his signing-on fee was calculated into the weekly wage, bringing it closer to the figure you stated. Still an expensive flop, but the PL is littered with them, a recent example being Haller moving for 20m to Ajax having only signed 18 months ago for West Ham for 40m. stop being so naive. 20 odd years ago 'free' transfer Sol Campbell was paid £60k a week to fit into the Arsenal wage structure. However, as a free his agent negotiated a £10m bonus to be paid over the 5 year contract - so £40k extra a week. Meyer will almost certainly be on similar - a standard wage and a bonus paid over the length of his contract. That is why he has sat in the reserves and not asked for a transfer - no one else would pay him 50% of his current salary and he and his agent know that. Likewise Palace can say his 'salary' is lower than amounts quoted.

Excellent news. Perhaps we've paid him a chunk of his remaining contract to go, perhaps he's just agreed to walk without demanding payment. Fair play to him if it's the latter.

I'm always amazed how Parish can sit there on matchday cool as you like, watching money go down the toilet and not have a heart attack. Remember he intimately knows to the penny every extravagant demand from each player and their agent, each bonus, loyalty payment, signing-fee etc... He's now also looking at £30m Benteke and £27m Sakho walking out the door for no return. I wouldn't be able to do it.

Well it opens up a spot in the squad let's hope they fill it wisely.

Fair play to him if it's the latter. the latter is unlikely lets face it - he is more likely to have his contract paid off completely after zero interest for taking him on loan or (ha ha) buying him - maybe 10%-20% of his future wages knocked off is about the best to hope for as he should get another contract in Germany for 6 months and then cash in again with a signing on fee in the summer What it shows is that you can sustain PL with a lower wage bill - as we have been doing fine (ie comfortable survival) without Meyer, Sakho and to a lesser extent Benteke, who contributes, and must be on a lower wage now but only if your recruitment is stellar - and no one can be right all the time it just seems that the higher the wage the more Palace get it wrong Still good news though - Agreed!

I guess you are paying 25 salaries and only 11 can start so there is always that logic of over paying - but just too much of that money at Palace is on the bench or in the physio room

Not sure Ron Noades would have been quite so sanguine about it all!

I am disappointed, that Max never really got time on the field he deserved. Being subbed or pulled off, never gave him the chance to excel. Sometimes I wonder if Woy makes
