The club will first knock us back because of a derisory offer and not having the funds to pay without a silly instalment plan. He’ll then be concerned by his wages and length of contract and then whether we’re serious about improving the squad.

He must be hurting as much as us but he is not showing any leadership. He should start planning the managerial succession and when a candidate is lined up he should have a quiet word with Roy Hodgson, pay off his contract, thank him for what he has done and move forward. If he does not, out of misplaced loyalty, then there is only one way we will go with the achievement of another 27 points looking doubful.
