I’m not for for one minute saying I love to watch Palace under Roy week in and out but what I will say is that there is more to football than the way Fulham played yesterday and the way Brighton played last weekend, passing the ball around from side to side with absolutely no end product. It may look nice to watch but it means nothing without points on the board.

I have been one of Roy’s defenders over the last couple of years because I really believe he has done a great job in keeping us up considering the squad depth and injuries we have had but I have also said that now is the season that he will really be judged because we have some squad depth for once.

People have to remember that we have started off this season riddled with injuries once again our only regular starting defender in the first few games from last year was Ward but yet we still looked solid at the back. This isn’t by chance, it is because of the tactics that a lot of you hate. Players know the system.

Liverpool havnt shut up because they are missing VVD but we were missing Cahill, Sakho, Tomkins, PVA and all to long injuries. These are facts that a lot of you seem to erase from your memories when it suits.

I have no doubt there is going to be some awful performances this season but I also believe we are going to have our best ever season in the division.

you could well be correct, but that ethos cost pardew his job after doing a very good job beforehand.

for most of our PL tenure, we have been an effective counter attacking team, tbf why change something that works.

Precisely and it's for me the best way to watch if done properly, yesterday we had two offsides and another two brilliant opportunities to score against Fulham who hit the post twice from distance with Guaita being in the right position to save them anyway, people always always forget that the keepers hand can quite easily still be able to save the ball if the shot is another three to four inches nearer to his hand to get inside the post!

Nor have the media. It's the same with Citeh and the loss of Aguero and Jesus in the opening games (as well as the longer Laporte absence) BUT barely a mention of our injury list (a reserve back four for most of our games so far), nor of how well Kouyate has filled in in the absence of THREE regular CBs. Similarly, the media make little comment about Burnley's injury list. Basically teams like Burnley and us are not wanted in the PL because the media don't like our style of football. When we do our counter-attacking well, it works a treat - like yesterday; sometimes (and sadly over the last six months or so more frequently) it's dreadful to watch (last week being the pits despite our getting a draw).

We have our strongest ever squad this season - with cover in all positions. Hodgson has options he hasn't really had before. let's see how he uses them. we should be looking to stay in the top half of the table.

jeeez , i give up.

Some fans will never be happy. They let pessimism and cynicism drive their unhealthy obsession with wanting us to ditch Roy for an attack minded manager.

in to the end of the season then we go for Gerrard as some poster has already suggested - the Brighton performance was a low point but Jairo seems to be playing like a new signing and is great in possession - he will help us to make the game more so I hope and expect him to keep his place in the team

Top London club tonight too - if that’s worth anything !

Still top London club tonight with the Arse losing to a late Vardy goal (only his 11th against them!). Only Spurs can overtake us but they'll need to beat Burnley up North to do so.

I just wanted to support doombear's observation here. Kouyate has been stellar at CB imho. I never really liked him in the midfield but he's filled in here wonderfully.
