Earlier this year on the CPFC website I saw an extended video of a goalkeeper training session. Although it covered one part of one day's workout, the 8-minute sample easily convinced me that Guaita's spring, strength, reactions and secure hands were markedly superior to Hennessey's. Hennessey was fine – in games, we've seen that he is good and at times excellent – but to this former GK, the video didn't lie. Touch after touch, Guaita instilled far more confidence.

Guaita gets my vote.
Hennessey is good. But i'm not sure if good is enough for the Prem. Napoleon Bonaparte favoured generals who were lucky. We should find a new keeper who is lucky.

Vic Rouse & Tony Millington - also Welsh international goalies. I have some good memories of Vic Rouse who was good for his time - and helped us out of the 4th division. Originally posted by chris123

I struggle with this whole debate and indeed with the big man generally. People say he is no good yet he is a record breaking international fast approaching a record caps tally for his country and has regularly kept clean sheets and that country has had major tournament success. Yet he is not regarded as even a half decent keeper. It seems as a group of fans we have our favourites and that was Jules. So much so there has been a fair degree of ranting about the re issue of the No 1 Jersey.

Typically he has gone on and become quite brilliant for Southampton
