The biggest change this season seems to be in the way we are approaching the beginning of games. Last season we scored 9 (I think) in total first half goals. This season we've started on the front foot and scored in the 13th and 7th minutes respectively. Taking the lead in this league is a massive advantage and particularly so for us as, if we go behind, we find it virtually impossible to break down the opposition, the put 3 on Wilf, we go sideways and backwards etc. By taking the lead it means the opposition has to open up and we look really dangerous on the counter and appear to be playing the ball forward far more quickly. The addition of Eze and perhaps one of the other two rumoured to be joining will only help this style. Long may it continue.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

It’s a good point but both Southampton and Man U weren’t fit and prepared for the start of the season. If we have 2 defensive midfielders rather than 3 or 4 then it’ll make a big difference.

Your right scoring first is the key. Then park the bus and spring counter attacks to add to our tally. The problem comes against lesser teams who park their bus and we struggle to break down.

This is why getting carried away is silly. The opposition or timing of these fixtures have suited us to an extent. We’ll face some Sh1t soon and disappoint but probably won’t adapt during the match. It’s very predictable, but if it keeps us in the league, and the transfer strategy has improved a lot so... Plus the 2 def mids instead of 3-4.

........ is something we should try more often. The next match v. Everton will be the test of our new found 'adventurous' tactics

A draw would be great for us but I think they will win. I thought they would have another year of expensive signings that don't work out but Ancelloti seems to have found some kind of style for them.
