Given today's announcement on the deferring of supporters returning to professional games (No matter how obvious it was that it was going to happen given the recent escalation of the Covid situation in the UK) it does provide the club an opportunity to revisit the whole season ticket situation without losing too much face - clearly getting businesses to publicly retract from a situation in favour of new rules / guidelines dosent happen very often but in this instance I would urge the club to listen to reason as its clear that they announced this seasons ST packages & payment options with those options taking on a very one sided approach - (after all it is their business & they can take whatever approach they like) But in my view (for what its worth) Paying up front for 17 prospective games when in all likelihood with ballot allocation you will only see Perhaps 6 / 7 (who knows how many games) I have no problem with the club taking an up front payment in line with a reasonable spend amount - maybe £200 / £250- which can be topped up as matches are attended & the credited amount dwindles. If you do pay & go into the ballot, there is no way of knowing yet where you will sit & if any of the refreshments / amenities are going to be available, thereby reducing the attraction of attending (the opportunity to sit with your mates & have a few beers is certainly part of the experience for many) I would also say that those in the club management that made that decision are probably in the position where they could part with £600 / £700 without it hurting the bank balance too much. There is no option to reserve your seat for the following year if you arent prepared to pay the 17 game amount & mix in with reduced attendances (if you dont fall into those catagories of 65+ or shielding (staying away for doctors orders) This new V12 credit payments - its obvious to see why this is attractive to the club, they dont have to decide if someone is credit worthy, they dont have to collect the monthly payments & they receive pretty much the whole season ticket money up front from V12 - all sound business reasons -however given the current state of things Covid / furlough etc I would have preferred them to have adopted the approach of - Existing ST holders with clean payment records stay in the current (last years) system - Existing ST holders with problematic payment records go into the V12 system - New applications ST go into the V12 system, the club will get their introduction of the V12 system (it will take them a bit longer but they will eventually get it without the heartache) We all know that a full Selhurst Park is absolutely what you want on game day- those supporters packed into our compact stadium add to the match day experience for the team, the club & each other (against the visiting team & their fans) As a number of people have said ST income is about 8% of revenue (I have no idea if it is or not but lets take that number as fact) The 8% ST revenue is available when the club is in the Premier league & the stadium is full - Covid & the knock on effects will ensure that is not the case this year. If the club is relegated - TV money & its associated payments drop & the club then becomes more reliant on the supporters, the same supporters that today with the current ST payment plans they are marginalizing themselves from. As a summary - (sorry its been a bit long winded) But I would say to the club - your stance this year has caused considerable anxiety & frustration to the average fan & families - if you are comfortable turning the seats over to casual visitor / cucumber sandwich brigade who will only be there during the good times, then you cannot complain in x years time when we are in the Championship & the stadium is half full & a considerable amount of your supporter / fan base is in someone else stadium.

So with the expected deferment of sporting events having spectators, will the club take this chance to pause, return all monies paid, reflect and then another day adopt a different approach to season tickets. That costs them nothing as they can hardly retain the funds paid and endeavour to win back some appreciation from fans, who by their nature are the most loyal due to holding season tickets. I sincerely hope so. It won’t undo the pain and conflict to a club they love many have clearly felt, but it might, just might, reduce it I / we live in hope What it won't also do is take away any (now unnecessary) credit blacklisting some people may now have courtesy of V12.

I don't think there is any issue of face saving to be had, the Club has not in their own eyes done anything wrong. Just because a few customers complained so what. All they need to do now is wait until crowrds are allowed back so they can calculate the credit they will need to give to 21/22 ST renewals

Clearly I got a bit emotional / carried away with my post yesterday - Must have been my hormones - Apologies to anyone who was brassed off with it - including any members of the club- it would have been enough for me to say - any restructuring of the ST offering would probably depend upon how many tickets have already been sold, if they have sold plenty then its not realistic to expect a new / different offer.

Why are you apologising for giving the Club a deserved dose of reality? Remember you are a customer now

But, the club's action has left a number of loyal supporters with a credit score headache, and many others fretting over whether or not they will be able to retain their seat next season if they haven't paid the ridiculous retainer fee.
