the 1-11 shirts aren't as sought after as they used to be, when they indicated a place in the starting 11. So maybe he doesn't want it. Since squad numbers were introduced a lot of players favour higher numbers for superstitious or other reasons. Personally I'd much rather wear 1-11 but then I'm from the pre-squad number days where anything 12 and over meant you're a sub.
