Richard Shaw for one and IMHO having seen him play for the U23’s over the past 3 seasons, the odd Carabao Cup appearance and the pre-season friendlies, I can’t disagree with him.

Have only seen him in the pre-season friendlies and was not impressed.

I think Woods should get a run out tonight. Mitchell seems to improve with every game so lets give Woods a start. Tonight is an opportunity for the squad plyers to get some much needed first team action.

Surely the injury situation is currently also stifling our carefully considered, top secret 'transfer policy'.

With the Governments 'rule of 6' coming into play yesterday the thought of signing any more 'injury prone' players would presumably mean Palace having to build another treatment room to compliment the top rated 'Wickham Suite'!

I think we’re massively vulnerable at Centre Back.

Prior to Kouyate converting for us in the pre-season Friendlies our mainstay for the past two seasons have been Tomkins, Dann, Sakho & Kelly with Cahill joining for last season. I see (at least) any two of those being injured and unavailable at any one time. Woods isn’t good enough and even when fit, none of the players above have any real pace any more. We are absolutely crying out for new young centre back that is good enough to slot straight in alongside an experienced head and at the same time let Sakho go to free up some wages and maybe bring a bit of a transfer fee in too.

Scott Dann injured again now apparently (in training on Thursday), forcing Sakho back earlier than intended. That’s Cahill, Tomkins and Dann injured now and sadly I don’t see Sakho staying fit for long either

Kouyate has been tremendous though.

Absolutely, a revelation for us at Centre Back...so far.
