Didn’t play for Serbia tonight not on the bench either.

Proof enough for me he is now not good enough for the PL (including Palace)

His usefulness as a penalty taker two seasons back
is not an asset now and his preponderance for yellow cards and sideways/backwards passing makes him a liability. His authority as captain has been shown wanting (Cahill shows how to do it)

Ship him off to Turkey if anyone will have him.

Disagree. Penalties are a big part of the game. With Wilf, Eze and Ayew doing their thing, we're likely to keep winning a fair few. There's no one in world football I'd rather have taking them than Luka.

Yellow cards, sure. But what defensive midfielder doesn't cop their fair share? The price you pay for breaking up attacks. Sideways/backwards passing, meh. It shouldn't be his role to split defences open with passing...he's a defensive midfielder. And I'm not sure where you get your info from on his authority as captain from...? Assumptions, probably.

Sure, he was below par for the majority of least season. But so was most of the team. Give him a chance.

Cheers

He’s a decent penalty taker , but “ not one else in world football “ is stronging it a bit

Agreed, he is a very good penalty taker, but not 'the best in the world'. He rarely misses though, very reliable from the pen. Something that went a bit under the radar last season, is that McCarthy took his place as the prime DM in the team. That's why other teams have expressed interest in him. I really don't think we should let McCarthy go. Luka has certainly lost his best form as a DM. it could be that as he regains fitness in preseason, his form will improve as well, let's hope so

I see Luka as no better or no worse than any of our other 3 Center Mids. All are OK, non are outstanding.

Yep. Decent when he first came. I’ve got more time for MacArthur because of his time at Palace , but him, luka, McCarthy and Kouyate can all break up play, but none of them offer a lot going forward. Luka is living on his first year with us and starts every game as he’s the captain.
His set pieces are pi*s poor. Crosses the ball with no pace, like the balls been hit with a lob wedge.

I can't think of anyone better. Lampard when he was playing, maybe. But nowadays, I'd pick Luka.

I think Riedewald would be fantastic after a full season playing in the prem. Make Meyer more viable too as long as we got some physicality in there with them.
