TBF I think this was slightly out of SP's control. I can only assume that they extended his contract because they didn't have enough money to buy a replacement and no club would have paid sufficient money for us to put toward a replacement either. Decent CFs are big money as we all know.

If it is true then that is more bearable.

In our case, Hodgson had the good sense to realize that we couldn't afford to do that with Benteke if we wanted to stay up. Having said that, Benteke did put in one or two decent performance in the second half of last season, but not enough for him to remain in our first XI.

Exactly. It doesn't matter who the manager is or what style is played, strikers like Kane, Ings, Mane etc. score goals. Those like Benteke and Carroll can only do so if the system is built round them.
