Cahill, Tomkins, Sakho and Dann have no pace, but a mass of expeirence.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

Isn't Dann now out of contract?

He signed a massive 5 year contract and is on c£65k a week. Too much for a back up. Surely he needs to move on at his age. Great servant to the club etc, but time catches up with everyone.

Agree Sakho needs to move on - hopefully Lyon will increase their interest over the summer.

Cahill and Tomkins for me, if fit.

If he can be convinced to play there regularly and we don't sign anyone else I actually think Kouyate should take one of the spots. He is more athletic than most of the other centre backs and is arguably a better passer than all but Sakho. We definitely need more pace in the back line though whatever. Watching Sakho, Dann and Ward trying to keep up with the opposition attacking players is cringe worthy.

I'd go along with that. If we get 1 or 2 attacking midfielders in, he might decide to go for the CB option with the DM slot(s) becoming crowded!

'Attacking midfielders' ??
A type of player alien to the Roy Hodgson mentality

I think we should add John Stones to the ranks. Offload Sakho. Just an opinion.

agree we should offload Sakho. While I expect Stones will become surplus to requirements at Citeh,
1. What are they likely to want for him?
2. He dwells on the ball too much and seems to think he's a better footballer than he is
3. Can he rid himself of his silly mistakes?
4. Finally we need the money for more urgent business further forward.

I think Stones could do a great job with us. Before he joined City he was able to pass but because of the way they want to play he has been found out. Knocking it out of defence quickly would suit him more. Don't be surprised to see him at Wet Spam as Moyes is a big fan.

He probably could do a job, however this, along with goalkeeper is not a position we have a problem with so we shouldn’t be wasting money here. Having said that I wonder what the odds are on us signing a goalkeeper and a CH? It would be a very Palace thing to do.

We have got to stop looking at old worn out cast off's to tide us over and start signing some decent up and coming young talent.
This will bring down our squads average age, cost less in salary and also increase the long term value of the squad not decrease it!!
our current defence might have fantastic experience and speed of thought. That's where it ends!!
Beaten hands up for pace every time! Also how many goals from corners and set pieces have these wonderful old Pro's managed in the last season?

Have to agree - we need any money we have (whether for signings or for wages) for bringing in good younger players with probable futures in the EPL.
First, though, we have to reduce our current wage bill and if you've read my other posts you will know who I think needs to be offloaded now. Better to get a few million for the oldies now than nothing when their contracts end.
